Profilotrace PT-100 is an automatic measuring instrument. It traces the profile of a shaving razor cartridge and measures the critical parameters such as exposure (protrusion), blade tangent angle (BTA), blade tip to tip distance (span) and any other parameter which is available on the profile.
The cartridge is mounted on a slide driven by a stepper motor through a ball screw. A specially designed stylus, connected to a precision position sensor rides over the profile to be traced. The signals from the position sensor and the pulses of the motor are processed through a proprietary microprocessor to convert them into over 5000 XY co-ordinates. These co-ordinates are stored in an Excel file and can also be imported in AutoCAD or any other design software to draw a profile.
Unlike in conventional contourographs that are normally used, there is no need to draw lines, tangents, arcs etc. to take measurements. The results such as Exposure, BTA, Span etc are automatically displayed, thus making the use of the instrument very easy, fast and free of operator errors.
